Whose Child Is This?
I love this poem that a fellow teacher, Cara Carroll, posted on her blog. My students become like my very own children and I would do anything to protect them. Thank you, parents, for allowing me to be a part of their lives. It is a huge blessing to me!

We had the BEST time on our Field Trip to Gullion Farms on Oct. 22nd. The kids got to milk a cow, go fishing, go on a hayride and a wagon ride, pick a pumpkin, gather eggs, jump from the hayloft, ride horses, and experience all kinds of farm animals. Thanks Mr. and Mrs. Gullion and staff for making it a great day! Thanks also to our parents and grandparents who chaperoned.

Happy Birthday Johnny Appleseed!!
We had a FABULOUS time celebrating Johnny Appleseed's birthday this week. We learned all about the life cycle of an apple, practiced apple poems and songs, and tasted some scrumptious apple treats! Thanks to Pastor Shane Wheeler (Hallie's dad) for being a wonderful "Johnny" for us!! Thanks to Warehouse Grocery for donating enough apple pies for the whole first grade and Savannah Ausley (Joe's mom) for helping to serve. Thanks to all the parents who sent in bags of apples for our homemade applesauce and our apple bobbin', and thanks to Jessica Wheeler (Hallie's mom) for the yummy caramel apples she made for us. The kids said it was the best week EVER! Take a look...

Bubbles!
Lots, and Lots of Bubbles!
Air bubbles, to be specific. We have started learning about Air and Weather during Science. We had the most fun on Monday experimenting with air bubbles under water. If I had a nickel for every time they said, "Look, Mrs. Smith!!"
Just take a look at their faces. Science is FUN...especially
when you get to go outside and play in the water!

Five Little Monkeys...
Well, ACTUALLY...17 little monkeys!!!
And they will ALL jump on the bed if you let them!
Can you tell it was ORANGE DAY? We are helping our kindergarten friends learn their colors.

Exploring and Creating
We enjoyed getting our hands on all the math
manipulatives as we practiced
rotating during Math Station Time. We made
some awesome creations!!
Chandler made a giraffe!
E is for Emily!!
Ice cream, anyone???
Brandon created this model of the Hunger Games field with the
cornucopia in the middle.
Some kids were too busy creating to pause for a picture. I'll be sure to get their photo for the next blog post!
